American Idol 2006 Rocked!

Now that Season 5 has finished it's "boohoo" and many tears for us Zimms, who were diehard faithful fans. Go Elliot!! We rooted for him bigtime due to the fact that he is nearly half deaf. As two "hearingly challenged" people we take our aids off to you Elliot, Woohoo! Plus, I totally dug that soul voice that was so given er at all the vocal runs. Very stellar. Elliot should totally get sponsorship from the Canadian Hearing Society. His whole stage for future concerts could be decorated in ears, and they could hand out plugs at the door!
"One giant step, one small ear for mankind!"

Our second favorite idol was of course the lovely Mandisa, or better known as "Mandiva." She was given the boot out of the competition after singing a Shania Twain song... now that's just wrong in my opinion! She has amazing pipes, and appears to be a Christian, but unfortunately her selection of a very "white", very country-western, nasally song didn't exactly fit. "Man, I feel like a dorcas!"
I think Mandisa will definately be the next CeCe Williams. Go Diva! But stay away from country!

Overall, it was a rockin 5th season, and we admit that we were totally on "tenderhooks" to see who won. As a first-timer t.v. show addict, I'm not sure how I should feel about the grand finale, I mean where's my closure? Better luck next season! Good luck finding another blonde headed bimbo like Kellie Pickler! We shall miss her most of all! To quote my husband, "...nobody's that stupid right?" As if!!!

Michigan or Bust?

Two weeks ago Copper-Tone and I headed off on a wild trip to the fascinating destination of Flint, Michigan! It's not a land flowing with milk and honey exactly, more like endless bumpy freeways, and carpeted with outlet malls! Mmmmm, outlet malls.....

Hubby whisked me away to a place where the sun is always shining.... the discount racks! We did some serious cross-border shopping and lots of Starbucks coffee drinkin. Mmmm Starbucks.....

We also returned from our vacation in urban shopaholic paradise with the intention of starting a WE HATE SUPER 8 fan club. Membership would only require the telling of one's own personal encounter with this motel from Hades!!! Followed of course by a sinister laugh..."Ha! Ha! Ha!!" and so on...:)

We should have known right away when the motel boasted condoms right next to the PayDay candybars in the candy machine in front of our door. Yikes!!! With one false move or flick of the wrist, one could have a sweet treat as well as some protection!

With much prayer and soul-searching we would have to conclude that Super 8 Super Sucked!! But the rest of the trip was a big success. Lots of fun!

We also drove up a bit further north on good ole Interstate 75 and briefly visited Frankenmuth, Michigan. It's like a miniture Bavaria, with cute german looking hotels, unlike the unnamed one above. Hmmfff! It has fudge shops, schnitzel on menus and a dress code like the old Swiss Chalet uniforms... They also have a Christmas store named Bronners, that does Christmas 365 days a year, complete with the nativity scenes, lights and sleighs... This was a tender momment I shared here with the baby Jesus.... It felt so real! :)

Like being right inside Christmas!! Sorry for the sacrilige folks!

Anyhoo, we will do it all again sometime, hopefully not for a while since I can't hold anymore maple walnut fudge. Man! That stuff is good!

Oh yeah, Tony found this train sitting in a park just after we crossed the border at Sarnia. He "insisted" I take his photo. All Aboard! Next stop will NOT be Super 8!

Sidetrippin

During a roadtrip back from the cottage two weeks ago, we stopped at this little spot somewhere between Guelph and Stayner, Ontario to visit....da, da, da, daaa! The Forks of the Credit. My question: "Are there actually any forks?"

Love this tree and the light on it. It looked like it at one time would've sat in a riverbed.

Looks like T-bone found the forks! Owwwww!

Cool Tree!

Deep Thoughts: by T-bone Zimms.....

I don't know if you can see it, but there is an elderly couple "cuddled" here on a park bench. And they thought they were being all exclusive! Thank the Lord I didn't have a telephoto lense!

PUNKS!!!

Two lovebirds, Awww!
